What is a Hybrid Work Model?
A hybrid work model is having the elasticity for work that allows flexible timings between working in the office and from home. This enables employees to choose when they come into office and when they can work from home. Having this option in a company can be incredible helpful.
There can be different types of hybrid work. One is where the employees choose to come into office the grey want, or a split week where they come into office on certain days and work from home on certain days. There can also be instances where the manager chooses what days the employees come into office and which days they can work from home. Sometimes it can be a combination of all depending on which works out best.
Time & Flexibility.
Having the option to work from home allows employees to work on their own time and at their own pace without having to worry about the work environment or people around them. Having such flexibility with time can enable more productivity from the employee since they are in their own comfortable environment and most people tend to work better when they are in an environment they like. Many people dislike sitting in an office all day at a desk because it doesn’t allow for a lot of space and creative thinking. For instance, a person surrounded by a desk and a cubicle would feel stuck and in a clustered environment and these types of factors can prevent wide ranges of thinking. A person sitting at home, relaxed on their couch will be comfortable and can relax and think calmly and more openly than that of a person stuck to sit in one place. They say inspiration comes out of the blue, a person sitting inside a cubicle will only see his desk infant of him, but a person sitting at home has their entire house, their balconies and gardens. They could see a bird in their garden and get inspired and creative thinking will begin. Having a comfortable environment is always helpful for employees to work better.
Work & Personal Life Balance.
Working from home allows a person to have better work-life balance. Someone who is stressed or troubled would not be able to function as well as someone who isn’t. When people work too much and give their personal lives less attention, they tend to get overworked and become stressed. Stress leads to demotivation and that leads to less productivity. When a person has a balanced life where they have enough time at work and enough time at home even if that means working from home, it gives them comfort and the ability to be relaxed and not continuously in an active environment. Having the choice to work from home gives a person a relaxed feeling allowing them to concentrate better and be more productive at will rather than in a rushed environment where everyone is looking over their shoulder.
The Digital Era.
Work from home also allows for minimal paper work and increase the use of digital work which is better for sharing, saving documents and everything you can think of! This digital era allows for less paper documents and more for cloud documents. In an organisation, having a cloud space where everything syncs helps everyone stay connected, allows viewing of work through a click and enables people to share their work seamlessly. This also helps managers keep tract of things like attendance, work submitted, emails and so on! Having everything online is extremely convenient and in today’s digital world, almost everyone has their own mobile phone and laptop or computer making it easy to work from wherever you are. And this doesn’t just apply to online businesses, this works for all types of business, from real estate to banking. You can have real estate listings online with images and everything. You can have banking apps today that make sending money across the world so simple. In today’s digital world, everything is made simple and easy as long as it can be digitalised.
Saves Money On Infrastructure.
When a lot of people are working from home, you can save money on renting or buying office spaces to work in. A ton of money can be saved there as well as on computers, electricity you would be paying for if you had a big office and small day to day expenses as well. This way, you could have a small office with a meeting room for the occasional meetings and days when people come to office but for the most part, you would save a lot of money on those expenses.
